Maryland Golden Aster
Chrysopsis mariana
A perennial, reaching a maximum height of 3 feet, that is native to the eastern U.S. ( Ohio to New York; south to eastern Texas to Florida ).
The foliage is silvery. The bright yellow flowers are borne late summer to mid autumn. The flowers are followed by fluffy seed heads.
Hardy zones 4 to 7 in full sun to partial shade on dry, well drained soil.
Plants can be cut back during early summer for a shorter, sturdier habit.
