Sibiraea
A genus of only 2 species of shrubs that are part of the larger Rose family. They are native to southeast Europe and Asia.
Siberaea laevigata
Also called Sibiraea altaiensis. It is a deciduous shrub reaching up to 4 or rarely 7 x 8 feet in size that is native from the Balkans to Siberia and western China.
The attractive oblong leaves are bluish-green and up to 5 x 1 inch in size.
The masses of small, 5 petalled white flowers are borne in dense terminal panicles up to 5 inches in length in late spring.
Hardy zones 2 to 8 in full sun on fertile, well drained soil. Necessary pruning is only trimming to shape after blooming and removing old branches that have lost their vigor.
